In 1960 I had no idea where my 10th grade art class would take me. A spark was lit by my art teacher Mr. Pace, who shared his love of art in a way that gave us a true experience in the different art mediums; oil painting, watercolor, mosaic, and others. It wasn’t until 8 years later, when my husband Lynn and I moved to Illionois, that spark was once again lit. I met a woman who taught me oil painting and for a year I painted with her guidance I continued to paint off and on until 1981.
In 2001, I felt that spark again; I signed up for a Community Education oil painting class at Dixie State, that’s when I met LaJoy Gustaveson. LaJoy was the class instructor and I felt her love of art, and her great desire to share with others. I knew then that I could never quit painting or learning, and that I had to share it with the world.
My journey with LaJoy has continued as we’ve teamed up as partners in Desert Rose Art Studio. The Studio has given me a place to paint, a place to help others develop their talents and love of art.
